Quality Assessment Information
WHO Safe Surgery
The World Health Organisation (WHO) safe surgery check list is completed before and after surgery by the surgical teams to ensure avoidable errors endangering lives are reduced. The checklist has improved anaesthetic safety, ensures correct site surgery, avoids surgical site infections and improves communication and teamwork amongst the surgical team.
Uses care pathways
The hospital uses care pathways which are evidence based tools to help a patient with a specific condition or diagnosis move progressively through the clinical experience, demonstrating continuous quality improvement in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Pre screening for infection
The hospital tests patients for infection before or when they are admitted. Testing for some infections ensures the safety of everyone in the facility and allows the hospital to take steps to stop the infection from spreading.
